Why is Everybody Traveling to Aspen?

If you haven't scrolled through a feed filled with group trips to Aspen on your For You or IG Explore Page, then you might be on the other side of social media.

But as for me and my household, we've been influenced by the Aspen BOOM.

With my birthday approaching and no desire for an extravagant plan, I thought, "Why not switch things up and take a trip to Aspen?"

Take a break from the usual warm vacations and fully embrace the ICY conditions of a winter celebration.

Fresh from my Aspen adventure, I now get why Justin and Hailey Bieber, the Jenners, Rihanna, and A$AP Rocky decided to pop in this season too.

Turns out, you can have mountain views, blue skies, sunshine, floor-to-ceiling windows, and billionaires casually sitting beside you—all in the same frame.

Welcome to the Aspen experience!

🏨 Airbnb or Hotels

I mean, the usual travel considerations like how many people going on the trip, and how many nights we’re staying were there but we’re in Aspen, of course we’re staying in one of the high-elevation mountain communities.

We booked the Glass House Airbnb, offering panoramic views that practically scream, "The Big Ballerz are in town!”

🚙 Ride Share or Car Rental

I’m usually a ride-share queen when traveling internationally.

But in Colorado — no one, absolutely nobody wants to stand in 20-degree weather waiting for a ride. Especially not us California girls, accustomed to those 60-degree winters in Los Angeles.

So, for Aspen, we decided to rent a four-wheel drive to get through the icy streets at our own pace for under $400 (gas included).

🍝 Eating Out or Cooking In

Aspen's culinary scene is a hidden gem according to TikTok.

The minute our plane landed, we hit the ground running – straight to Snowmass for a shopping spree (👋🏾Revolve pop-up). That's where we stumbled upon Las Montanas, a Mexican restaurant with pretty good steak tacos (it’s a 9/10 for me).

Dining out is a must in Aspen, but balancing it with some home-cooked meals added that extra personal touch. Plus, we’re Nigerian, I practically grew up with a omorogun in hand, thanks to mandatory kitchen appointments making jollof rice as a young girl. So, you know I had to flex those culinary skills in our kitchen.

🛵 Excursions or Relaxing

Here’s my take – travels are for adventures and filling your days with activities, while vacations are all about lounging on a beach somewhere. Once you've categorized your trip, it's decision time.

For us, it was a mixture of both rest + adventures, like snowmobiling.

Being a first-timer, I'd give myself a solid 7/10 – and that's only because I may have misjudged a turn and ended up crashing my vehicle🥵. Thank you God for covering me.

Don't take cues from me on that one! Safety first, folks!

🛫 Commercial or Private

Okay, so this part's kind of a joke, but hear me out – when I realized the flight for LAX to ASE was just ~2 hours, I couldn't help myself. I hit up a few private jet companies. But…reality check – I'm not rolling in cash yet.

So, per usual, I hopped on an American Airlines flight, cashing in my miles and turning this trip into a FREE trip. Because free flights are the ultimate win!

So, as you plan your travels for 2024, consider adding Aspen to the top of that list. And, if you're rolling in cash, do me a favor – send over a pic of the private jet company you choose so I can add it to my prayer jar.
