You can do hard things
“You can do hard things.”
That’s what my sister Kenny and I remind each other when the Saturday HIIT workout is hiiiting a little too hard. And today, I want to remind you that you can do hard things too.
Whether it’s a career pivot, moving forward with a creative idea, closing a door, or pushing through that last 10 seconds of a plank (🙋🏾♀️).
I did a hard thing last week.
I met with the Inclusion Manager at my company, had a brief exchange with the VP of People, and drafted a charter for a Christian group at work. One thing about me: I like to keep things low-key in the workplace, sharing only what I absolutely must. But lately, God has been calling me to lean into things that feel hard, the things I usually run from💨.
But last week, I ran toward it with full force, and it’s safe to say I landed well. I’m super proud of the growth we’re already seeing. I cant believe God trusted me — a whole me, with this calling.
I know how hard things can feel like mountains, so I wanted to share my mountain prayer with you, as you take steps of obedience and do the hard things this week:
____________
Dear God,
Right now, I’m facing a mountain that feels like an endless uphill battle. There are days when I don’t feel like continuing, but I know you are the ultimate mountain mover. You’ve gone before me and set my path straight. Not only have you graced me for this journey, but you’ve also equipped me—so I surrender this mountain to you.
Even when it seems insurmountable today, I will keep going, day after day, not giving up. You didn’t call me to cower in defeat. You didn’t give me a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. While it feels impossible for me, I know all things are possible through you.
📌 Mark 11:22 says, “Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done.”
📌 In Matthew 17:20, Jesus said, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
So, I rest in your promises, knowing that:
1. I am not the first to face this mountain—there is nothing new under the sun.
2. I am not alone on this journey—because you are with me, Emmanuel.
3. Mountains quake because of you and the hills dissolve.
I am a mountain mover.
Amen.
You’ve got this. Whatever your “hard thing” is this week, remember that God is with you every step of the way. You are equipped, and you are stronger than you think.
