What’s on my Bookshelf? — Fall 2024 szn finale

And with that, the 2024 season has come to an end.

I can’t be the only one who eagerly awaits that iconic TikTok sound every December.

Welcome to the Fall 2024 season finale!

This post is dedicated to books that made me hotter, smarter, and richer this year (shoutout to Maggie Sellers for the mantra). While I read a total of 15 books in 2024, I’m sharing the reads that changed my life for the better.

You can call this my ✨2024 Consumption Wrapped✨.

🧠 Smarter: For the Corporate Baddies

These are the books that made me a sharper, bolder, and more strategic professional. They helped me sharpen my critical thinking, level up my technical skills, advocate for myself, and, most importantly, approach my career with strategy.

While not all these books are categorized as “career” reads, the insights from them will forever influence how I work.

Beyond reading, my friend Whitney encouraged me to start attending business forums and conferences—a practice she and my friend Maria (both seasoned academics with master’s degrees) have been doing for years.

Top Career Reads:

1. Anna: The Biography

2. Nice Girls Don’t Get the Corner Office

3. Questionnaire Design: How to Plan, Structure, and Write Survey Material for Effective Market Research

💶 Richer: Just Give Me my Money

These books changed how I think about money—how I invest, save, and steward resources wisely. They offer holistic, practical, and actionable advice for navigating today’s unpredictable financial climate.

Special shoutout to my friend Lordley, who authored the third book on this list. His faith-filled perspective on wealth management was a game changer for me personally. And to my friend Dipo, my weekly finance guru—I’m so grateful for our discussions.

Top Finance Reads:

1. Venture Deals

2. The Psychology of Money: Timeless lessons on wealth, greed, and happiness

3. Kingdom Strategies in Uncertain Economic Times

🙏🏾 Hotter: Standing on Jesus

Okay but let’s be forreal—if you’re not working on yourself internally, the external glow-up is just surface-level. Am I right or am I not wrong?

While I originally wanted to keep this section to three books, I couldn’t narrow it down. All five of these reads helped me deepen my faith and relationships this year, turning biblical principles into practical lifestyle steps.

A major highlight of my faith journey was hearing Apostle Joshua Selman in person twice this year (Connecticut and Fort Worth). His messages—online and in person—have been the ultimate cheat code.

Top Faith Reads:

1. The Power of Your Dreams: A Guide to Hearing and Understanding How God Speaks While You Sleep

2. The Pursuit of Holiness

3. The Bait of Satan: Living Free from the Deadly Trap of Offense

4. The Awe of God: The Astounding Way a Healthy Fear of God Transforms Your Life

5. The Root of Righteousness

That’s all—that’s the list! If you’re thinking, Wow, she’s a scholar, you’re not wrong. But reading is one thing, and applying that knowledge is what truly matters. My hope is that my list inspires you to create your own and, more importantly, take action in the year ahead.

While I intentionally left out fiction this year, it remains one of my favorite genres, and I can’t wait to dive back into it in 2025.

As my friend’s boyfriend wisely said during a prayer call last week: “We should be reading more books than we’re buying shoes and bags.”

Here’s to being even hotter, smarter, and richer in 2025!
